For what it's worth, I finally figured out how to get the custom images back up for all the various buttons and such, and switched over some over the
specific forum banner headings. It seems common across the board that everyone defaults to Facebook for their online social activity now, since though
it's great for event planning and emailing directly back and forth, it's virtually useless when it comes to having any kind of community interaction.

Well, I guess the fact that the last post here was back in July says it all. I admit I've gotten real flaky about keeping up with activity here
(nothing to do with FB or MS, but socially as a whole), but then the last few times I did check I could see that it was becoming a ghost town. That's too
bad, because the community aspect was the attraction. Sites like FB are so closed off, everyone keeps their profiles private and only allow people they
already know to see them. It's...

There are a lot of reasons not to come on here. Facebook has made event promotion easier, and ppl have come to expect that all the latest shows/clubnights will
just pop up as a Facebook event and they'll magically get invited by their friends anyways. As well, the ads on here are a bit frustrating too (although
not a deal-breaker by any means).

Of course, Facebook and the like don't provide the same type of community like a forum does. Forums are great, I just don't...

I'm more than happy to continue spreading the word here - hell, I put in a TON of time into building it in the first place way back when - since the whole
idea was to get an all-inclusive general Vancouver alt community going that isn't primarily based around one event or specific group of people. And for
that's it's very specific - though the nights that I run personally, Sanctuary and Sin City, are the longest-running and biggest of their type in Van,
Dark Vancouver...

Would be nice to get some interest back here since some of us don't use Facebook

I agree with you. It's worth a try. Spreading the word on other sites, and getting the Descent crew on board might be a way to start. Because there's
nothing as good as boards like this for hearing about events, shows, new releases, and stuff. It's damn hard to find stuff just by word of mouth (which
Myspace and Facebook basically is).

Perhaps making some flyers or posters promoting DV at Sin, Skank, Descent, and perhaps even around town, might get new people here, and...
